Metals and casting process for fire hydrant castings:

1. Ductile iron fire hydrant casting parts: Sand casting process is an industrial metal casting process that involves creating a mold from sand and pouring molten metal into it, generally used to cast the shaped parts of nearly any design, including large parts and those with internal passages.

The process of Baoding Guokun sand casting involves several steps after producing a professional tool or mold, including:

No. Steps Details
1 Pattern Creation A two-piece metal pattern is created in the shape of the desired part, typically from iron, aluminum or wooden material.For a single casting or small batches of castings, we prefer to produce to use the wooden material to manufacture the mold to save money for customers.For other sand casting parts in large quantity, we prefer to use aluminum or iron to improve the mold’s service life.
2 Mold creation The two shell halves are joined together and securely clamped to form the complete shell mold. If any cores are required, they are inserted prior to closing the mold. The shell mold is then placed into a flask and supported by a backing material.
3  Pouring  The mold is securely clamped together while the molten metal is poured from a ladle into the gating system and fills the mold cavity.
4 Cooling  After the mold has been filled, the molten metal is allowed to cool and solidify into the shape of the final castings.
5 Raw Castings After the molten metal has cooled, the mold can be broken and the casting removed. Trimming and cleaning processes are required to remove any excess metal from the feed system and any sand from the mold
6 Machining  Machining as per drawings

2. Cast steel fire hydrant casting spares: Investment casting is an industrial metal casting process based on lost-wax precision casting, generally used for producing complex-shaped metal components that require tighter tolerances, thinner walls and better surface finish than other sand cast parts.

1 Patterns Makings Creating a wax mold of the desired stainless steel pump impellers, and then adding sprues to the wax model to create a tree-like structure.
2 Shell Building Coating the wax pattern with a layer of fire-resistant paint, and then to be sprinkled with sand, so after a period of hardening, the surface will form a layer of fire-resistant thin shell.
3 Dewaxing Removing the wax, the shell is placed into an oven, melting the wax so that it can run out of the shell.
4 Pouring Pouring the molten stainless steel into the shell, and waiting for solidification under room temperature.
5 Post treatment After cooling, knock the shell and cut the sprue gate by grinding machinery to achieve net shape impeller castings. Then shot blasting to move mill scales to assure the smooth casting surface.
