What is a Pump casing?

The pump volute is a crucial component in centrifugal pumps, designed to convert the kinetic energy of the fluid into pressure energy. It is a spiral-shaped casing that surrounds the impeller. As the fluid exits the impeller, it enters the volute, where the increasing cross-sectional area of the spiral slows down the fluid, thereby increasing its pressure.

How to produce a slurry pump housing?

Casting or Fabrication: For cast iron pump volute or cast steel volutes, a mold is created, and molten metal is poured into the mold. After cooling, the casting is removed and cleaned. For stainless steel pump housing or other metals pump volute, the volute can be fabricated by cutting, bending, and welding metal sheets.

Machining process after sand casting or investment casting: The casted pump volute or fabricated volute is machined to achieve the precise dimensions and surface finish required.

Quality Control: The finished volute is inspected for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and structural integrity. Sand casting process is an industrial metal casting process that involves creating a mold from sand and pouring molten metal into it, generally used to cast the shaped parts of nearly any design, including large parts and those with internal passages. Baoding Guokun can produce various sand cast parts in cast iron, ductile iron, gray iron, low-carbon steel, mild steel, alloy steel for pump, valve, agriculture, railway, road, forklift, tillage, mining, automotive, medical, food, and aircraft, etc.

The process of Baoding Guokun sand casting involves several steps after producing a professional tool or mold, including:

1	Pattern Creation	A two-piece metal pattern is created in the shape of the desired part, typically from iron, aluminum or wooden material.For a single casting or small batches of castings, we prefer to produce to use the wooden material to manufacture the mold to save money for customers.For other sand casting parts in large quantity, we prefer to use aluminum or iron to improve the mold’s service life.
2	Mold creation	The two shell halves are joined together and securely clamped to form the complete shell mold. If any cores are required, they are inserted prior to closing the mold. The shell mold is then placed into a flask and supported by a backing material.
3	Pouring	The mold is securely clamped together while the molten metal is poured from a ladle into the gating system and fills the mold cavity.
4	Cooling	After the mold has been filled, the molten metal is allowed to cool and solidify into the shape of the final castings.
5	Raw Castings	After the molten metal has cooled, the mold can be broken and the casting removed. Trimming and cleaning processes are required to remove any excess metal from the feed system and any sand from the mold

The content of CR in high chromium cast iron is 10% ~ 30%, the carbide in its microstructure is mainly (Fe, CR)7C 3 type, the microhardness is as high as 1500 ~ 1800hv, and the shape of high chromium cast iron is discontinuous or Bar, which improves the hardness and toughness significantly. GB/T8263 can be divided into CR12, CR15MO, CR20MO, and CR26 according to the chromium content, among which CR26 high chromium cast iron CR content is 23% ~ 28%, and according to the production of different wear-resistant parts, can contain a certain amount of Mo, Ni, and Cu. The British Standard BS48844 divides CR26 into two grades according to the Carbon Content: high carbon and low carbon. Because CR26 high chromium cast iron contains more chromium than CR12 and CR15MO, it will be beneficial to improve the alloy’s hardenability.
